Dr. Diana Hackney

Dr. Hackney began her duties with the
Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Rhode Island on
August 1, 2002. Known for her passion,
revenue generation, entrepreneurial spirit,
creativity, vision and energy, D. Hackney
comes to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Rhode
Island with extensive educational and
managerial experience. She served as Vice
Chancellor of Student Affairs at UMASS
Dartmouth; Vice Provost of Student Life at
Drexel University; Vice President of Student
Affairs at the University of Charleston and
Assistant Dean of Students at Shenandoah
University. Dr. Hackney was the recipient of
the 2007 YWCA Women of Achievement Award,
given to Rhode
Island women who help to improve the lives
of children and youth.

Dr. Hackney's educational background
includes a BA and M.Ed. from James Madison
University; an Ed. D from the University of
Pennsylvania; and is a graduate of Harvard's
Institute for Educational Management. Dr.
Hackney also holds a certificate in C.Q.I.
for Conrail of Philadelphia.
Some of Dr. Hackney's past awards and
distinctions include Drexel University's
Wilber N. McMullen Award for outstanding
service; the Diana L. Hackney Award named
for her, given to individuals who "exemplify
dedication and guidance" to the Drexel
University student body; recipient of the
"Educator of the Year" Award; charter
advisor and member to the Golden Key
International Honor Society; and the
Military Science Department Providence
College Appreciation Award.
Dr. Hackney presently resides on the East
Side of Providence. She has been a
Providence resident since 1997.
